Berkshire Facts

Berkshire has been the scene of many battles. Berkshire battles include the Battle of Englefield, the Battle of Ashdown and the Battle of Reading. During the English Civil War there were two Berkshire battles in Newbury. During the Glorious Revolution of 1688, there was a second Berkshire Battle at Reading, also known as the "Battle of Broad Street".

Getting to the Carnarvon Arms is easy Newbury is a main line station while the A34 takes you South to Winchester and the coast or North to Oxford the M4 East to Reading and London or West to Bath and Bristol. From the A34 take the turn signposted Highclere Castle and follow the signs to the Castle until you come to the Carnarvon Arms on your right hand side.
