Berkshire Facts

Berkshire has been the scene of many battles. Berkshire battles include the Battle of Englefield, the Battle of Ashdown and the Battle of Reading. During the English Civil War there were two Berkshire battles in Newbury. During the Glorious Revolution of 1688, there was a second Berkshire Battle at Reading, also known as the "Battle of Broad Street".

Directions:

From the M4 leave at junction 11 and take the A33 towards Reading Town Centre. Follow directions to the Oracle Shopping Centre and Queen's Road Car Park A329 to Maidenhead once you are in Queens Road and the Oracle on your left you will see Queens Road car park after Brannigans follow the road and stay on the left lane. At the 2nd set of lights turn left into Watlington Street also stay on the left lane . Turn left into Kings Road at the next set of traffic lights you should see Kwik Fit Garage on your left and left again at the next lights into Duke Street Jackson's Corner Shop will be on you right hand side . The hotel is immediately on your right with the turning into the car park just beyond. Since Reading is mainly a one way system we strongly recommend paying special attention to signs and directions in the town and if you have any trouble please do not hesitate to give us a call.
