Berkshire has been the scene of many battles. Berkshire battles include the Battle of Englefield, the Battle of Ashdown and the Battle of Reading. During the English Civil War there were two Berkshire battles in Newbury. During the Glorious Revolution of 1688, there was a second Berkshire Battle at Reading, also known as the "Battle of Broad Street".

Built in 1849 and incorporating many features from the earlier Jacobean mansion this carefully restored country house is now an elegant and atmospheric hotel and conference venue.

The substantial grounds around the Manor House are perfect for staging a variety of corporate events including Clay Pigeon Shooting Archery Quad Bikes and Falconry Displays.

The main function rooms can host private dinners dinner dances and wedding receptions for up to 140 people or cocktail receptions for up to 250.

At the other end of the scale there is an intimate dining room for 12 or the Courtyard which is ideal for birthday and anniversary parties.

The Oak panelled Library is also licensed to hold Civil Marriage Ceremonies.

From the M4Leave at junction 12 and follow signs to Newbury A4. Take left turn at the roundabout for Aldermaston Tadley A340. In Aldermaston continue 200 yards beyond the mini roundabout turning left at the fork into Church Road. Proceed a quarter of a mile to the Manor House sign on the right.From the M3Leave at junction 6. Take the A340 to Tadley and on to Aldermaston. As you enter the village turn sharp right into Church Road and proceed for a quarter of a mile to the Manor House on the right.From the A34At Newbury take the A4 towards Reading. Pass through Thathcam and Woolhampton carry on until the sign to Aldermaston Tadley A340. In Aldermaston continue 200 yards beyond the mini roundabout turning left at the fork into Church Road. Proceed for a quarter of a mile to the Manor House sign on the right.
